Corvus

This is the home page of Corvus, Bill Pook and Mike Billington. Corvus are an act who perform their own material, some cover versions of songwriters such as Leonard Cohen, Richard Thompson, Sonny Condell, The Decemberists and anyone else whose material takes their fancy. They also perform traditional material and Bill's own poems set to music. Instrumentation includes guitars, Appalachian dulcimer, mandolin, recorders, oboe, crumhorns, rauschpfeife, Highland bagpipes, Spanish bagpipes, Bulgarian bagpipes, Indian harmonium, kalimba, dumbek, ghatam and various percussion. Hurdy-gurdys have arrived!

Corvus are available for all manner of venues including folk clubs, festivals, poetry events and anywhere where an acoustic act is welcome.

Corvus were featured on Genevieve Tudor's Sunday Folk on BBC Radio Shropshire and presenter Genevieve Tudor was promped to quote "just fabulous.....I love it.....just amazing!"

Bill and Mike also play with the ceilidh band Madcap who celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2014. Mike, once of Rebec, is the only remaining founder member of Madcap and the line up includes Mike on recorders, crumhorns and rauschpfeife, Bill on djembe and assorted percussion, Paul Woods on melodeons, Willy Simpson on fiddle and Iain Bowley on guitar. Madcap are experienced in weddings, private parties of all kinds, fund raisers, corporate events, morris events and folk festivals.

In addition, Bill and Mike have teamed up with Paul Woods, Colin Froggatt and Nicola Smalley to form the ceilidh band Maggoty who will be seeking to vary the repertoire and instrumentation of the band. Maggoty can be concted via Maggoty Website
